Classroom Kit – Transformation of E.coli with Blue and Green Fluorescent Proteins – For 10 Groups

ABOUT THIS PRODUCT:
In this experiment, students will explore the biological process of bacterial transformation using E. coli and plasmid DNA. At the end of the activity, students will have experience observing and analyzing acquired traits (ampicillin resistance and fluorescence) as exhibited by transformed bacterial cells.

Group Size:
For 10 lab groups

Time Required:
Complete in 50 minutes and grow overnight

Instructions, BactoBeads™, plasmid DNA, IPTG, ampicillin, CaCl2, growth additive, ReadyPour™ agar, recovery broth, petri plates, plastic microtipped transfer pipets, wrapped 10 mL pipet (sterile), inoculating loops (sterile), & microcentrifuge tubes

All You Need:
Micropipettes, two water baths, thermometer, incubation oven, pipet pumps or bulbs, ice, marking pens, bunsen burner, hot plate or microwave, hot gloves, & long wave UV light
